When it comes to working with letters as abstract forms, they are able to be explored as dynamic formal elements. In order to create an appealing spatial correlation of foreground and background or positive and negative space letterforms must be explored in various ways such as rotating, scaling, and layering. Throughout this design process identifying and applying typographic principles such as alignment and spacing was crucial so that each of the five letterforms wouldn’t lose their legibility in the finalized composition. As well, by creating structure supported in not only building form, but expressing specific context.
